FDM 3D Printing
FDM (fused deposition modelling) 3D printing melts plastic filament and lays it down layer by layer to build your part.
It suits functional parts: brackets, clips, housings, jigs and spares that need to be strong, accurate and affordable, from one-offs to small batches.
- PLA: Visual parts and prototypes
- PETG: Tough everyday parts
- ABS: Heat and impact resistance
- PA6: Engineering nylon for wear
- PA6-CF: Carbon-fibre nylon, stiff and strong
- PA12: Engineering nylon, stable and tough

Is FDM right for your part?
Good for:
- Strong, functional parts in engineering plastics
- No tooling, so one-offs are affordable
- Quick to change the design and reprint
Limits:
- Layer lines are visible on curved surfaces
- Slightly weaker between layers than along them
- Very fine detail is limited by the 0.4 mm nozzle

What our customers say
I was looking at paying over £50 for a replacement air filter clip for my Volvo V70, with a four week wait from the dealer and I only needed one! I sent QuickForm a photo and a few measurements, and within 24 hours they had designed and produced a replacement. Such a simple part but ridiculously expensive and difficult to get hold of. It fitted perfectly and saved me a lot of money and waiting around. Brilliant service!
Farhad Gh, Google review
Had an idea for a custom part but no design file. Quickform designed and made exactly what I needed😊
Parisa Ghiyasi, Google review
Produced a small batch of parts for us. Good communication, quick turnaround and consistent quality throughout.

3D printing service UK: common questions
How much does 3D printing cost in the UK?
It depends on the part’s size, material, infill and quantity. Upload an STL, 3MF, OBJ or STEP file to Quote Lab and you will see the exact price, including packaging and tracked UK delivery, in about a minute. There is no account needed to see a price.
Is there a cheap option for simple parts?
Yes. Small parts in PLA or PETG at standard infill are the lowest-cost option, and you only pay for the part you need: there is no minimum order, set-up fee or tooling. Quantity price breaks are applied automatically in Quote Lab for larger batches.
Can I order a one-off 3D printed part?
Yes. One-off parts are a large share of what we make, from a single replacement bracket to a prototype. Order one and come back for more later; if you sign in, your uploaded models are kept in My Files for repeat orders.
What 3D printing process do you use?
FDM 3D printing (fused deposition modelling), which builds strong, functional plastic parts layer by layer. Quote Lab lets you choose the material and infill: standard, mid or high.
What if I do not have a 3D file?
Send photos with a few measurements, a sketch or the original part through the quote form. Our CAD design and reverse engineering service can create the model, then we print it.
What is the biggest part you can 3D print?
Up to 340 × 320 × 340 mm in a single piece. Larger items can be printed in sections and joined.
What file formats do you accept?
Quote Lab takes STL, 3MF, OBJ and STEP (.step or .stp) files for an instant price. No file? Send photos, a sketch or the original part instead.
What finishes are available?
Parts come with supports removed and a basic clean-up. Sanding or surface smoothing and threaded inserts can be added when you order. If you need a smooth cosmetic finish, tell us before we quote.
Do you offer 3D printing in Newcastle, Sunderland and Middlesbrough?
Yes. QuickForm Labs is based in the North East and takes 3D printing, CAD design and replacement-part work from across the North East, including Newcastle, Sunderland, Middlesbrough, Gateshead, Durham and Teesside. Parts are sent by tracked courier, or local collection can be arranged.
Can I collect my parts instead of having them posted?
Yes, local collection can be arranged. Otherwise, parts are packed securely and sent by tracked courier.
Do you only work with customers in the North East?
No. The workshop is in the North East, but we make parts for customers across the UK with tracked delivery.
